Lunar New Year was on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. In Chinese tradition, we have 2 full weeks to officially “open” the new year with celebrations and festivities. Join Professors Moy & Durán on Saturday, February 12 in Chinatown for an afternoon of new year’s traditions: lion dancing, red envelopes, dim sum & sweet treats.
We’ll be walking around the streets of Manhattan’s Chinatown so dress warmly and bring comfy footwear. Bring along any friends or family if you wish: classmates, neighbors, siblings, cousins, parents, abuelos — we want to meet them all and spread good luck for the coming year!
We’ll meet at 12 noon at Chatham Square under the Kimlau Square Arch near the big statue of Commissioner Lin Zexu . (Convenient subway stops include the 4/5 to City Hall, 6 to Canal St., D to Grand St., and F to East Broadway.) We’ll be finished by 1:30 p.m.
